Chapter 1

JOSIE'S POV 7 AM "Beep. Beep." There goes that damn alarm clock. "Ouch!" I fell off the bed trying to get my annoying alarm to turn off. That thing is trying to kill me.

I can't remember setting an alarm this early in the morning. My ass hurt so much from the fall. I tried getting up but my body is tangled in the bedspread.

I managed to fall once again, now my butt cheeks are sore. I felt like crying. I am the main definition of being clumsy, but I can't help myself.

Things just happen, you know? "Knock, knock." I heard the door and I know definitely that is my mom. She must have heard my fragile bones crack not too long ago.

I shouted from my floor before she could open the door, "I'm fine." She opened the door and came in, "Josephine Garcia, where are you?" She cannot see me on the floor from where she is standing, she would have to come around the other side of the bed.

My mom always calls me by my full name when I am being clumsy.

I am surprised she had to ask knowing it is a usual routine for me to fall off my bed. "I am on the other side mom." I answered wincing in pain.

I have fallen so many times in my life that I know for sure that Mother Earth is my best friend. My mom came around the other side of the bed and helped me out of the duvet.

After I got up, she pulled me to sit on the bed, and I know there will be a sermon coming.

I love my mom the most, but she does talk a lot sometimes, but what can a girl do other than listen? "Honey, don't be late for your intern interview today." My mom said softly and I shuddered at the thought of going out. "I know that you are still hurting over what happened and I am hurting too sweetheart.

It is hard to not be angry about the fact that my little girl was almost... you know... that thing but thank goodness it did not happen.

Life goes on and you can't live in isolation for the rest of your life." My mom started crying after she finished speaking and it broke my heart to see her like this.

I should have started my internship two weeks ago, but an incident happened a week before and my principal literally begged the company for me to start two weeks later.

I wanted more time, but the company would not budge further. They said they would get someone else if I couldn't make it today. I sighed thinking of that.

If not for me, then for my parents. They had always been there for me, not as a duty or responsibility but because they really want to see me become successful.

I am literally an adult now and would need to go on my own soon or later, but I would definitely prefer the later or none at all. "I am sorry mom!

I have been home for the last three weeks and I know it is time for me to get back out in the real world." I started crying as well. "Silly girl, who asked you to be sorry?

It was not your fault. I just want you to get back out there, be your fun and jovial self again.

Maybe this internship will help take away your psychological trauma." She wiped my tears while smiling through her sobs. "Okay, go and take a shower.

I will take out your outfit while you're at it." I forced myself to smile, "Thanks Mom, you are the best." And I ran off to the bathroom.

Standing in the shower, I started having flashbacks of the night that could have been my last.

I was held back at class three weeks ago completing a group project that was due the next day. I left campus around 9 pm that evening.

My home is about ten minutes' walk from the College campus, so I normally do just that.

Five minutes into walking and admiring the brightly lit moon, I felt someone following me but whenever I looked back, I did not see anyone.

I picked up speed; I had no time admiring the beautiful moon anymore. As I bent the corner of the last block to get to my home, there was a man waiting there.

He was dressed in full black and mask, I thought I was suddenly a part of a supernatural movie.

I was so frightened that I screamed and turned to run the other direction where I was now blocked by two other men dressed in the same costume.

The last thing I heard before they placed a handkerchief damped in chemical over my nose was, "We are going to have some fun with you tonight and if it is good enough, we might keep you as our sex slave instead of killing you." ...

CHRISTIAN'S POV "Get me a new Intern Assistant." I shouted at my Assistant Roger Simms who is also my best friend. "Please shout at someone else, do you think your shouts will solve your problems?" He fired back at me.

Honestly, he is the only one that can keep me in check.

Well, sometimes. "Then do you expect me to go and get an Intern by myself?" I am already doing them a favor by hiring Interns to begin with.

I don't know why I bother to put up with this motherfucker of An Assistant. "You know there are many capable employees here that will be happy to take your job?" "Who cares?

Go and get one of the capable employees and see if the company won't be empty of humans soon." He rolled his eyes and got up from the couch heading towards the door. "Where do you think you are going?" I asked him through gritted teeth.

If he wasn't my friend and the fact that he knows me better than I know myself, I would have fired him before I even hired him.

The only person other than my mother who dares speak to me in such a tone. "I have work to do, I cannot sit and listen to your blabbering all day." He walked out of the office.

In fact he has a lot of work doing, he is not only my Personal Assistant but also The General Manager.

That is why I always get an Intern to assist him and also to get someone who can get me coffee and run errands.

I am giving them an opportunity to experience working with Christian Evans. A Selfmade Billionaire of 'The Great CE Business and Law Firm'.

Chapter 2

JOSIE'S P.O.V I got ready with the help of my mother. I must say I look gorgeous. I later joined her and father in the dining room for breakfast.

My mother would never let me go out without eating plus I am a little foodie. I won't skip meals to please anyone, sorry but not sorry. "Mom, Dad, I am leaving now.

Wish me luck." I kissed her on her cheeks, hugged dad and rushed through the door. She was saying something but I did not hear her.

I don't want to be late for my interview that I did not want to attend but since I am already going, why not be punctual?

I rushed to the bus stop in 6inch heels, pencil fitting knee length high waist skirt. A light make up and my hair combed in a high ponytail.

I twisted my ankle a few times and I was surprised I haven't fallen yet.

In the bus I had to stand, the bus was jammed in the early mornings with people going to work and where else they needed to go.

As a matter of fact, some of these people have nowhere going. They enjoyed taking up space. I got to the company ten minutes early.

I looked at the building before I went in, "The Great CE Business Law Firm here I come." Is 'The Great' even necessary? Must be a cocky bastard.

Well at least he was able to manage his company into one of the most prestigious firms in New York.

I went into the building where I was stopped by one of the receptionists at the front desk, "How may I assist you?" She was very professional and may I add pretty too?

She seems like she is naturally friendly, I like her already.

I looked at her name tag that says 'Sophie'. "Hi Sophie, my name is Josephine Garcia and I am here for an intern interview.

I am from the Brooks College of Law and Business." I responded with my best smile, not to be outdone in first impression.

Yes, I am a child at heart. "Give me a moment." She moved over to her company phone and made a call.

Soon as she disconnected the line she gestured for me to come forward and I was led to the elevator. CHRISTIAN'S P.O.V I sat behind my desk and felt exhausted.

I stretched my hand for my coffee and grabbed air, "Fuck, what am I supposed to drink to keep me through the day." I won't lie, I am a bit addicted to coffee.

I need to have Roger buy me a coffee. I headed out of the office and went to his office next to mine.

I open it without knocking as I usually don't. "Can't you knock?" he asked me but I did not respond.

It is my company and I am free to go anywhere in it. "I need a cup of coffee." I demanded. "Who told you to fire your last Intern?" he asked but I did not want to get into that with him right now.

We were interrupted by his office phone and without acknowledging me any further he picked it up. There was a bright smile on his face as if he had won a couple million dollars.

I heard him saying to the person on the other end, "Yes, yes. Send her up to the CEO's Office." Why the hell is he sending someone to my office?

He hung up the phone and I tilted my head with a frown, "Who is it?" "Please to go back to your office.

There is a young lady from The Brook's College of Business Law coming up for an interview. I almost forgot about her.

She is here for an internship in the Researching Department, but can you make her your Intern Assistant?" he raised his eyebrow and I know it is more of a telling than asking. "It seems you forgot who is in charge here." I am normally the one with the authority but today I am really in need of an Assistant that will not answer back and give me headaches. ...

JOSIE'S P.O.V In the elevator Sophie turned to me, "Mr. Evans is a serious and strict boss. Just be yourself in the interview for he doesn't like pretense.

When you get the job, you just work to the best of your ability and you will have no problems with any of the higher ups." I knew I liked her, "Thank you for your words of encouragement, I will do my best but I am not sure being myself is the best option for me, maybe for other people." Well, she doesn't know how clumsy I can get, it is out of my control.

Maybe I am cursed to be clumsy. Haha, I internally laughed at my own foolish thoughts.

Sophie laughed, "I am sure being yourself is not that bad." We reached the 20th Floor and Sophie brought me to the CEO's Office door.

She knocked and a hoarse but sexy masculine voice came from inside, "Come in." Sophie turned to me before she left and said, "Remember to be yourself." I nodded and opened the door.

Before I knew it, I stumbled and there goes my face meeting the surface of the floor. I was awaiting the pain when I noticed it was not reaching the hard floor. ...

CHRISTIAN'S P.O.V I went back to my office and stood at the floor to ceiling window looking at the busy streets below.

Suddenly I heard a knock at the door which must be the new Intern. "Come in." I waited for a minute but the door hasn't been opened yet.

I don't know why the person decides to linger at the door. Is she waiting on me to open it for her? Suddenly the door opened and there came a short figure flying in.

I hurried to the door to catch the flying woman in time. Our eyes met and I felt something new. What could that be?

Chapter 3

CHRISTIAN'S P.O.V I hurriedly composed myself and reprimanded her coldly, "You haven't gotten the job as yet and you are here throwing yourself into my arms?" She looked so frightened by my outburst, and it was obvious her reaction was not on purpose, but I had to put on a show so she can remove any thoughts she might have in the future. "I didn't...

I, I swear I didn't." she stuttered. I had on a cold expression, but I did not let her go. In fact, I like the feeling of the softness of her petite body in my arms.

Our close contact is having my heart beating so rapidly, I swear it might skip a few. "Sir, you are still holding onto me." I cleared my throat and let her up.

I went to my chair and sat there like the king I am. I looked at her and was amused by how red her face was at this moment. Is she blushing from embarrassment?

She seemed different from the rest that walked inside my offices. Usually they are flirty, babbling their eyes as if they have a terrible ocular disease.

Innocence is written all over this one. This one is quite unique. Interesting.

She was standing there in the same spot dressed in a pencil skirt that fit perfectly with her physique.

Even though she has a petite body, she had wide hips, a normal size breast; not huge but not too small either; just perfect and not to mention, she is a shorty.

Not saying that is my preference, but they are intriguing. I surfed my eyes up to her face only to see an angry little Lioness.

Her face was already red from the embarrassment a few minutes ago, I haven't told her to sit because I was busy checking her out. This is unusual for me.

She has barely been here five minutes and I am already lusting.

I have never tried sleeping with any of my employees before. "Ahem" I cleared my throat from embarrassment and gestured to the chair for her to be seated. "What is your name?" I asked while pulling her file on my computer that was just sent over from HR since they are supposed to be doing her interview for another department.

It might be an internship, but she is still required to go through all the processes.

I was desperate for a mini assistant, so I had asked HR to get me one earlier, or rather Roger did.

JOSIE'S P.O.V I was standing there like a statue waiting for this man to tell me to be seated.

I was told that the interviewee should not be seated until they are told to do so and my feet are killing me. Probably a bit swollen by now.

He had accused me of seducing him as soon as I got into the office. Who told him to catch me? Ridiculous! I hissed inwardly. Now he is checking out my entire body.

I don't want to work for a pervert. He is good looking for sure and not to mention his strong muscles when he held me in his arms.

It was like a fitted jigsaw puzzle even when he is almost twice my height. Well, not so much but you know what I mean.

I almost wanted to stay there and nestled in his arms until he opened his mouth to accuse me of seducing him.

I am not that type of girl that will throw themselves on any rich man they encounter. His body felt good, but I don't want to have sex with anyone anytime soon.

That incident had me traumatized for too long. "Ahem" he gestured for me to be seated finally, "What is your name?" I sat down, still upset about my swollen ankle.

I am not going back into one of these killers.

I bent to loosen the straps of my heels and when I touched my ankle, I winced in pain. "My name is Josephine Garcia." I held up my head when I felt the room became extremely cold. "Ahh!" I screamed when I saw his icy face staring coldly at me. "Are you going to kill me?" The words fly out before I could even think. "Did you come here to make a mockery of me?" His handsome face was letting off steam by now but yet the room temperature remained cold.

I shivered in my seat not sure if I should be hot or cold. "No sir, I wouldn't even dream of doing that." I took a deep breath and responded quickly.

I gathered everything in me and continued, "I was selected by my school to come for an interview here." His mere presence made me nervous, and I was not the one to be nervous easily.

I was shocked by his response and introduction. "I am Christian Evans and you should be happy to be in my presence." He stared at me proclaiming himself to be a king.

I had to fight the urges of rolling my eyes at him. "I mean, you're cute and everything but do you seriously have to be a narcissist?" I retorted in my head and then smiled at him as if he were giving a highclass speech. "Excuse me!

What did you say?" he blurted out angrily as if he would kill me at any second and I knew at that moment that I did not keep my thoughts to myself.

I scratched my head and tried to look at everything in this office except him. Well not bad, the office is well decorated in black, white and silver.

The colors complement each other and give it a luxurious feeling. "It looks like you don't want a job. Why did you even bother to come here?" he scoffed sarcastically.

My feet are killing me, but I tried to endure the pain in my ankles and answered honestly, "I always wanted to work here ever since I started college, and I know this will be a great experience for me when I finally graduate.

I want to learn from the best, from your best employees." The department I was sent to interview for as an intern is the research department and I would have to do a lot of passed work hours' duty.

I would have to work in groups and go out to gather evidence for cases being handled by the certified lawyers.

That should be a lot of fun even though it is a lot of work in comparison to the other departments.

It is the best department for me to get experience from until I graduate and can become an attorney at law.

Well, that was what I wanted until three weeks ago, I don't think I am ready to put myself out there as yet.

I don't want history to repeat itself, but I know I must find comfort in life and move on. "It seems you have come to the wrong place.

That is not a valid reason for me to hire you." He was looking at me as if he were trying to see straight through me. I could not tell him the real reason.

I am not ready to talk about it and if I do, it will be to someone close to me. I decided to ask the question that I was concerned about. "Mr.

Evans, do you have any departments with fewer males? I would truly appreciate it." I knew I was pushing my luck but I had to chance it.

I want to work in a department where I get off work before dark and less males to lust after me. He was staring at me as if we did not speak the same language.

Am I not speaking English? Forget it, I don't want to work for a cocky boss. He seems like the type of boss who would throw a tantrum for no reason.

Several minutes passed and I thought he would not respond.

I positioned my handbag so I could get up but before I could, I heard him ask, "Tell me Miss Garcia, why do you think I should really hire you?
